DC Motor Controls - Edge Guide Controls
The H3321B and H4321 Edge Guide controls provide a cost-effective method of adjusting and maintaining web edge position. Examples are reel stand (let-off and re-reeling), steering roller, and pivoting roller type applications.
This edge guide control centers the web by monitoring edge sensors and moving the actuator as needed to maintain center. A IDC electric cylinder or rodless actuator moves the spool or steering roll to maintain a centered position. When operated in automatic mode, the control will extend and retract the actuator in response to the sensor inputs. In manual mode, JOG inputs are used to manually adjust web position.
The H3321B is designed for use with IDC EC2H, EC3H, NVH, R2H, and R3H Series actuators, while the H4321 is used with the larger EC5H and R4H Series. User-supplied edge sensors are connected directly the Edge Guide control, eliminating the need for a PLC to translate the sensor signals to appropriate extend, retract signals. Manual job capability allows initial adjusting to be done before machine start up.
