DC Motor Controls - Overview
Why purchase an expensive motion controller when your application doesnt need one?
Many positioning applications are simple in nature, involving only a few stopping positions and I/O, and thus, do not require an expensive programmable motion controller to solve them. Examples of these types of applications abound in industry, and are solved typically either with pneumatic air cylinders, or with expensive, programmable, electromechanical motion control. Each conventional approach to these applications has their benefits and trade-offs: a pneumatic solution offers simplicity and low cost, while lacking precise position and velocity control; a programmable electromechanical motion controller offers the user a great deal of flexibility, functionality, precise positioning and velocity control while significantly increasing system complexity and cost.
IDC solves these simple positioning applications with our Limit Switch, Analog Position and Edge Guide Controls. These controls give the user the benefits of using electromechanical motion control: precise positioning, velocity control and flexibility, while foregoing the increased cost and complexity of programmable controllers.
