Low Voltage Explanation
Compliance to CE standards is a very important requirement for many customers in todays motion control industry. In order to meet the needs of these customers IDC is pleased to offer many products which are CE compliant. In order to become CE compliant, IDCs products have to be tested to certain CE standards or "directives".
The question of which CE directives our products need to comply with is not a simple one. As you already may know, IDC has all of its products CE tested by an independent laboratory. This laboratory first contacted two notified bodies, TUV Rhiland and TUV Product Services, to determine the appropriate CE directives IDCs products need to comply with. Both of these notified bodies agreed that the type of products IDC manufactures need to comply with the CE directives of electro-magnetic emissions, immunity, and machine safety in order use the CE symbol. IDCs products were then tested by the independent laboratory to these CE directives and passed all necessary tests.
It is commonly asked if IDCs products need to meet the requirements of the CE low voltage directive in order to become CE compliant. The two notified bodies have stated that the type of products IDC manufactures should be tested to the machine safety directive and not the low voltage directive. The machine safety directive testing is more stringent and more extensive then the low voltage directive. However, the machine safety directive includes all the testing required by the low voltage directive. For customers who require it, IDC will now list CE the low voltage directive as one of the CE directives IDCs product comply to.
